Unclog Your Toilet Drain Using A Toilet Plunger Holder

By Sharron Cantu

Clogged toilets are unsanitary and a huge problem, especially if it's the only accessible one in your home. A toilet plunger holder can be used in a number of tested methods to help clear up the water closet plumbing. Make sure you always use the right tools for this job, as merely flushing the bowl will lead to an even bigger mess.

Make sure not to flush your water closet more than once if you suspect the bowl is clogged. Always utilize plungers in these cases, since it has been proven to be the best way of solving this kind of problem. That not withstanding, if the problem persists or does not change even after using plungers, you can refer to several other methods.

Water closet plungers come in all shapes and sizes. Purchase a ball-shaped or fold-out rubber flange ended plungers for the best effectiveness. A larger plunger may also require more downward power from your end.

Place the plunger into the bowl and push down firmly, but slowly enough not to splash any water out of the bowl. Make sure the drain hole is entirely covered when you press down for best results. Additionally, make sure the rubber cup with the attached stick is directly touching against the drain hole and all the way under the water.

It's important that you push and pull the plungers slowly and strongly inside the water, rather than bringing it up to the air. Sharply pull the plunger within the water to create a suction-like motion, then push firmly down to use the pressure. This back and forth motion of suction and pressure will help push whatever clogged the water closet through the drain. You will most likely do these motions at least a few times.

If normal plunging fails to unclog your water closet, add 5 tablespoons of dish soap. Let the soap sit for 5 to 7 minutes before you add a pot of boiling water in. Plunging the toilet after these additions will make for a more effective method of clearing up any blockage in the drain hole.

You could also use a 2 cup mixture of baking soda and vinegar to unclog the drain. As long as your toilet bowl isn't filled completely with water, you can pour the mixture in and wait several minutes for it to settle. Afterwards, pour some more water inside the bowl and use your plunger.

You could use a wire hanger to unclog your drain as well. Untwist a regular wire hanger and straight it out except the hooked end. Push the hook into the hole of the drain and twist and turn it to push, pull, or dissolve any remaining blockage.

Using the plungers usually suffices in clearing up water closet clogs. However, your problem may be in the plumbing itself. If there is a seriously underlying issue with your plumbing, you will need to address it with a professional's help. Make sure to give a professional plumber a call if your toilet keeps on clogging up. He or she will let you know whether you need to replace a pipe or offer sound advice.
