Can Assisi Help Cats & Kittens With Gingivitis?

By Robin Setser

The health of your cat, to say the least, is important. Dental issues are some of the most concerning and I am of the opinion that gingivitis requires the greatest amount of care. When your cat's teeth and gums have not been cared for, whether through routine brushing or what have you, it's easy to see that issues can arise. However, if you'd like to know how to help or even prevent this problem, there are tips from Assisi that you'd be wise to look into.

Gingivitis, for those who aren't in the know, is a type of gum disease that results from plaque being built up over the course of time. Keep in mind that some food particles are smaller than others; these very particles are the ones which are likeliest to get stuck in-between one's teeth. This is where the development of gingivitis can start. Without proper flossing, this is an issue that can result in problems related to the teeth, in addition to oral health in general.

One must wonder, then, why cats seem to suffer from gingivitis. It's been said that a diet which is high in carbs stands a greater chance of creating plaque, in-between the teeth. One can also argue that natural saliva can add to the problem, though this is an element that cannot exactly be helped. After all, it's more biological than anything else. However, in order to prevent gingivitis from coming about or becoming more of a problem, in cats, here are a few solutions supported by Assisi.

For the sake of targeting this problem with the utmost care, consult your veterinarian as soon as possible. This specialist can look at your cat and see if problems with their teeth and gums are, in fact, related to gingivitis. A few solutions may be given, one of the most prominent being the administration of specialized toothpaste for this very condition. Routine brushing must be done, so don't overlook this. Further solutions may be given by your vet, but this will vary depending on your pet's condition and the severity it possesses.

When it comes to the well-being of your cat's gums and teeth, it's easy to see that there are solutions to be had. It's just a matter of how attentive you are of them, as a pet owner, and how far you're willing to go to care for issues related to these. Gingivitis can occur if they're not attended to, so make sure that you follow the examples mentioned earlier. The sooner that this is done, the healthier your cat will prove to be in the long term.
