Use Of Smog Check Murrieta

By Leslie Ball

In the recent years smog is becoming a great challenge to many towns in the world. It has many negative effects to the surrounding with the most fatal ones being a cause of respiratory illness and causing poor visibility on the roads a condition that leads to increased accidents. This has instigated the government to enact smog check Murrieta laws that will help in controlling the level of air pollution.

It has been made compulsory that all automobiles in the city of Murrieta, CA should be registered under this new law of ensuring environmental safety and cleanliness. All motor vehicles which were built from 1974 to 2002 are subject to these new regulations.Under this policy it is a requirement that all motor vehicles are taken to the checks after every two years of service to inspect the state of the engine and the exhaust systems.

The renewal of this regulatory programs takes place on annual basis where by the owners visit the service stations where the checking is done and payment of the inspection fee of about 300 US$ is also done. The driver is then given a certificate to show that he has met the law and a sticker is put on the car. This is constantly used by the officials on their duty to check for those who have not complied.

There are numerous test stations in this city. They are well equipped with all facilities and well trained officials have been employed here to conduct the required tasks. In most cases the inspection is done at these stations where by the cars are taken through a series of qualitative tests and their results are recorded. The amount of emission is recorded and its matter is analyzed to find out which gases are being released into the atmosphere where the vehicles are put on the roads.

Tough measures and actions are taken to those who fail to meet the required condition as per the law thus ensuring that law is more effective. Fines are charged to those operating vehicles that do not meet the required standards considered environmental friendly. Those found to be in bad state should be taken for repairs and maintenance before they are put back on the roads. The levies charged vary depending on the extent of pollution caused by the vehicles emissions.

The law requires that all vehicles in this state are enrolled into this environmental conservation plan. However there have been exemptions in application of this law especially on the state owned vehicles and military ones which have a short operational time of about two years. It is assumed that within this period that it is difficult to have developed any technical problems thus they are in good shape.

With use of technology, emission control systems have been developed. The use of catalytic combustion units has been effective in reducing the amount of pollution this has led to a cleaner atmosphere.

The application of these measures has already been felt. Data from the recently released reports have shown a decline in toxic level in the air thus it is becoming cleaner. There has also been reduction in the number of road accidents. Thus these policies are being advised for use in other cities with this problem.
