Dementia is common among the old people. The disease is not fatal as it only affects parts of the brain such as response system and cognitive functions. The patients experience loss of memory, less mind and body coordination and loss of reasoning power. Workouts and games greatly improve these conditions but first they should visit a physician who will advise them on the best works and games for dementia patients.

The behavior among the patients can be reduced if the out-patients are able express themselves thorough music, art or any other medium. Below are some tips that the patients can engage in and it will help with their condition.

We have all seen the body physique of weight lifters. Their bodies are in good shape and remain so even when they are old. The dementia patients can also be involved in lifting lightweights. They can visit a local gym and ask the instructor to guide them in what they need to do.

Aerobic exercises are another activity dementia patients should do to help with their condition. The advantage of the exercises is that they not only improve the overall health, they also strengthen the muscles, improve the immune system, and increase blood flow to the brain. An expert in whom exercises are the best for them should guide them. If they improve significantly, they should have a routine of doing aerobics every day.

Flexibility and balance is at times difficult for the old people. They spend most of their times sited doing nothing. Their bones do not stretch much compared to people who work, as they have to move from one place another. The patients should start with simple routine exercises done weekly. The other advantage is that the can do them inside the house as they do not have to visit the gym. In your house, anybody can easily stretch bend and even do Tai chi.

Dancing is therapeutic to dementia patient. During the aerobic exercises or any other, they can include dance to the routines. Dancing is suited to all and those who find other weight training exercise boring can just dance to control their weight and exercise the body. It is also a combination of aerobic and flexibility activities. Through dancing, the patient will reduce mobility problems caused by ailments.

The disease affects the normal functioning of the brain. Therefore, it is important for the patient to do mental exercises and physical exercises as well. The mental exercises include riddles, playing board games, and solving puzzles.

To improve and see the health benefits of games and exercises, they should exercise regularly. They will live longer and will reduce the number of times they visit the hospital. Besides improving the health, they keep them occupied since there is not much they are doing. The activities are good for a patient and should be monitored or controlled.
