The death of a loved one is one of the saddest news that we would like to hear. Although, family members are emotional during the loss of a loved one, the loss should be documented in the form of a death certificate to make it legal and official. Only death records which have been registered since 1917 can be obtained from the state of Florida. A $5 processing fee has to be paid in order to get a copy of the said file. The state of Florida allows only the immediate family of the deceased to request for the death certificate. An application form has to be filled out with details of the person's death. The one who filed the request has to indicate their contact details on the request form. The relationship of the requesting individual and the deceased should also be indicated on the form as well as their reason for getting a copy of the document. When all of the information is given, the search can go smooth.

Requests can be done at the office of the Vital Records Section. The said office keeps all vital records of the state of Florida including the records of death in the state. Sending a mail request is also possible but all of the required information and document should be enclosed on the mail request. Furthermore, request made through mail order can take several days before the results be sent to the requesting individual.
